Higgins Motorsport run a 1975 Lola T400 in F5000 competition in New Zealand and Australia. Kinetic Sim created a 3D model of the entire car and developed a fully parametric CFD model to map the downforce, drag and centre of pressure at each front and rear wing setting. Higgins Motorsport used this data to help set the car up at each circuit. This led to them winning the 2014 NZ F5000 Championship.
Avanti Track/Time Trial Bikes
As part of our ongoing collaboration with Avanti, Dave was involved with the structural, mechanical and aerodynamic development of the Avanti Pista Evo 2 and Chrono Evo 2. The bike has had much competition success winning Gold at the New Delhi Commonwealth Games and the 2012 UCI World Championship. They have also won New Zealands most prestigious product design award, the 2011 Supreme Purple Pin Best Award and an international 2012 Red Dot Design Award.
3 Rotor Racing WTAC RX7
Andy Duffin's GTRNZ GT2 Mazda RX7 needed a new aerodynamics package for the World Time Attack Competition in Sydney. He commissioned KInetic Sim to undertake a full CFD analysis of the car developing a whole new package aimed at drastically increasing downforce while keeping drag to a minimum. The car being a naturally aspirated 20B PP Rotary engine up against high power turbocharged cars meant reducing drag was critical.
Carl Hansen Racing TVR Tuscan
Developing a new aero package for the Carl Hansen Racing TVR Tuscan in the GT1 class in the New Zealand GTRNZ series. The car is already a very potent package with Kinetic Sim being brought on-board to update the aerodynamics on the car to increase front end downforce and rear end efficiency.
RME Nemisis Sportscar
Kinetic Sim have been tasked to develop a new aerodynamics package for a Nemesis Sportscar competing in the NZ Sportscar Championship. The design will be developed with CFD and will incorporate all new underbody aerodynamics.
REMRAF Racing Nissan R35 GTR Endurance
Kinetic Sim are developing a new front end for the REMRAF Racing R35 Nissan GTR which is run in the New Zealand Endurance Series. The car has run in the North Island series and is undergoing some refinements for both aerodynamic downforce, drag reduction and cooling improvements.
Aero development of the Avanti Olympic Sprint Bike
As part of our ongoing partnership with Avanti Bikes, Kinetic Simulation were tasked with the CFD development of the Olympic Track Bike for the Cycling NZ Sprint Team. The Avanti Pista Team SP was used by Ethan Mitchell, Sam Webster and Eddie Dawkins to win a Silver Medal in Rio in the Men's Team Sprint event.
Aero development of the Avanti Olympic Pursuit Bike
As part of our ongoing partnership with Avanti Bikes, Kinetic Simulation were tasked with the CFD development of the Olympic Track Bike for the Cycling NZ Pursuit Team. The Avanti Pista Pursuit Team was used by the Men's and Women's Endurance Team at the Rio Olympics in 2016. It featured a world first front end design for a Track Bike.
Design of a Track Sprint Handlebar
As part of our ongoing partnership with Avanti Bikes, Kinetic Simulation were tasked with the complete development of a one-piece composite handlebar for the Cycling NZ Sprint Team. The handlebar was used by the Olympic Silver Medal winning Mens Team Sprint Team.
Aerodynamic Design of a Track Disc Wheel for HPSNZ
As part of the 2016 Olympic Development, Kinetic Simulation was commissioned by HPSNZ to design the shape of a new Track Disc Wheel to reduce drag over the existing wheels the team were using.
CFD design for the PMQ T1 Evo M
Kinetic Sim worked with PMQ to 3D scan their existing aerodynamic package and carry out a CFD analysis. Using this baseline we developed a new aerodynamics package for both a WTAC arrangement and also a standard motorsport legal design.
Designing a BMW for PMQ Design
We were asked by PMQ Design to design a new BMW body from scratch for a new racecar based around the architecture of their existing PMQ T1 chassis.
The complete redesign of a Juno SSE body
We have designed a completely new body and floor for a sportscar based on the Juno SSE. Working with the client and JUNO Sportscars the development included a CFD designed body, new V6 engine, new wheels, uprights and suspension and a new gearbox.
